21 Jul New Novant Health Building
Goode Properties plans to start construction in September on a 5,900-square-foot building at the corner of South Kings Drive and Baxter Street that Novant Health will lease.
Novant will open an express medical clinic at the site, developer Roy Goode says, and it plans to occupy the single-story building in the first quarter of 2015. Novant’s lease is for over 10 years and will start when the building is finished, according to real estate records.
The development site is at the southeast corner of Kings and Baxter and is currently part of the parking lot for the Midtown Center office building, which Goode also owns. Goode Properties is building a 125-space parking deck along Baxter Street that is expected to be complete in September and will increase the total number of spaces for the project.
Midtown Center is 97% occupied, and Goode is planning a second phase of development at the northeast corner of the intersection, where his firm owns a nearly one-acre parking lot.
Novant recently opened its first express medical clinic in Charlotte and has plans to open three to six additional express locations in the Charlotte region within two years.
