Cheers to 2022! Let’s Look Ahead to 2023

Dear Friends,

ODA Architecture wishes everyone a FUNomenal Holiday Season. We hope that you had a wonderful 2022. ODA Architecture had an inspiring year that could be termed as one of the best in our 38-year history. Let’s look ahead into 2023 at some of the challenges and opportunities for the Construction Industry.

One of the challenges will continue to be the labor shortage. All companies are struggling to fill available positions with qualified employees. Firms will have to be creative in bridging the gap between too much work and not enough employees, to continue to excel in servicing their clients.

Specifying appropriate construction techniques and materials changes monthly. The construction systems that were most economical a few years ago (or a few months ago) are no longer the best solution, due to available materials and production timelines. This often causes design delays to re-engineer the design, leading to client frustrations. ODA is convinced that Design-Build arrangements are best suited for the current dynamic economy.

Rising interest rates and lending challenges will lead to a natural slowdown in the construction industry. Our friends in the lending industries have crystal-balled that the next recession won’t occur until 2024.

Technology will continue to help solve some of the challenges. There will be more printed buildings and construction materials as there will be more assistance by robotics. The construction industry must be cognizant not to let technology overpower the need for human creativity and “know-how”.

The most creative firms will discover ways to overcome these challenges and thrive in 2023. Charlotte, as well as the whole southeast, will provide endless opportunities for architects, engineers, and contractors. ODA Architecture inquiries for new projects continue to be strong. We are excited about the opportunities for 2023 and look forward to partnering with you on this journey.
Happy Holidays!
